I've found the 1846 law of descent on the Rutgers law library website, but I need it for 1800. I'm not a lawyer, nor did I play one on TV. Can anybody help?? Watson born 1794 in NJ. He later moved to KY where he married Maria Cape Humrickhouse. They moved to Nashville, TN and had one son, Benjamin and four daughters. W.W.W. later moved to Springfield, IL with his children after his wife’s death and his second wife was Sarah Wiley Mottashed. He died there in 1874. My main interest is in finding solid sources for his Watson family in NJ. His obituary says he was born in Morristown and that three sisters living there survived him. His parents are not named and the sisters are not named. But, an obituary for his nephew, James LaForest King states the nephew’s parents were James and Charity Watson King of Morristown, NJ. So, this Charity Jane Watson was likely his sister. There is a record of her marriage in the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown records and she is buried in the cemetery there in Succasunna. The church website in its list of interments includes an editorial note that the parents of Charity Watson King were Thomas and Charity S. Watson. No source given, but it would appear that they were all members of this church. Thomas Watson died 1812 and Charity S. Watson died 1842. So, I believe these to be the parents of our William W. Watson. It is possible that the other two sisters of William Weldon and Charity Jane Watson were Harriet and Elizabeth Watson who never married and lived together in Morristown. If anybody has information about these Watsons in Morristown, your help would really be appreciated. Beth Schroeder I am researching the line of William W. Watson born 1794 in NJ.
