Published in Daily Record on Oct. 16, 2013 Parsippany, NJ Gladys Elaine Miller Garrison AGE: 83 - Lynchburg, VA Gladys Elaine Miller Garrison, 83, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Howard W. Garrison for 54 years. Born May 10, 1930 in Dover, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Leo W. Miller and Stella Fichter Miller. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by six siblings, Leo Miller, Roy Miller, Dorothy Miller, Joyce Miller, Ruth Bixler and Florence Burnside. Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was active in Blue Ridge Community Church in Forest. She was a founder of Blue Ridge Widows Group and served with Journey and the Children's Ministry. She was a former member of the Historical Society of the Rockaways, Ironia Reelers Dance Club, the Ford Model A Club of New Jersey, Antique Auto Club of New Jersey, AACA Hershey, PA Region and the AACA Lynchburg, VA Region. Gladys was known for her beautiful sewing, quilting, crafting and painting and enjoyed flower gardening. She loved playing the guitar and singing old country and western songs and storytelling to her family. She especially loved watching her great grandchildren and was so proud of them. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Wanda Gilmartin and husband, Robert of Bedford and Warren Garrison and wife, Donna of Flanders, NJ; six grandchildren, Amy Hudkins and husband, Brian of Orlando, FL, Dana Eames and husband, Jeffrey of Lynchburg, Rachael and Kathleen Garrison of Flanders, NJ and Kevin and Ryan Gilmartin of Bedford; five great grandchildren, Benjamin Eames, Braiden Eames, Lily Eames, Mackenzie Hudkins and Madison Hudkins; a brother-in-law, James Bixler and wife, Dee of New Port Richie, FL; a brother-in-law, Raymond Garrison of Shrewsbury, MA, a sister-in-law, Marion Miller of Dover, NJ; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Rd., Lynchburg. A Celebration of Gladys's Life and Faith will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Pastor Woody Torrence with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
