Been tracing the family lines of mine to discover civil war ancestor soldiers. Be surprized what one can find about the soldiers through their National Archives pension and military records. I have found 35 Robbins soldiers in New Jersey on the American Civil War Research Database. They give regeiment and muster in and muster out dates, and wether they survived the war, wounded, or POW. However, do not give place of residences at time of enlistment. There is too much information to post on any one e-mail. But willing to pass on some information about them from time to time. And willing to do look- ups on the Robbins soldiers for descendants of them. Here are a few Robbins soldiers that I would take note of because of something extra-ordinary: 1. Peter Robbins, 11th NJ Infantry. killed at Gettysburg 2. Vanroom Robbins, 28th. NJ Infantry died of wounds after Fredricksburg 3. Wallace Robbins, 7th. NJ Infantry discharged for minority (means he originaly lied about his age at enlistment and was found out) 4. William Robbins, 4th. NJ Infantry Killed at the battle of the Wilderness. 5. Ephraim Robbins, 11th. NJ Infantry wounded at Gettysburg. 6. Andrew Robbins, 5th. NJ Infantry killed at Chancerlorsville. New Jersy researcher and re-enactor. Passing on the information. Seems Ephraim could be the father of the other two? Anyones else know or are related to these Robbins men/soldiers? I am interested in writing a story/article about them. Steven Russell Hi Steven, When Ephraim, Peter and Benjamin jointed the 11th. It was when it was just forming and at a time when it was more difficult to get men to fill the ranks. So I can only assume they were from the Trenton area. By the way, there is a town on the outskirts of Trenton that use to be part of that city, which is called "Robbinsville" and the name Robbins was prominent in the area. Pvt. Ephraim was 43 yrs. old when he joined on June 18, 1862. He was assigned to company F and was later severely wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. I could not find if he succumbed from those injuries. Pvt. Peter was 27 yrs. old when he joined on June 16, 1862. He was assigned to company G and was killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. Pvt. Benjamin was a young 18 year old when he joined on June 14, 1862. He also was assigned to company G and survived the war. He died on January 9, 1929 and is buried in plot 259 in Beverly National Cemetery in Burlington county, New Jersey. I did notice, starting with The youngest, Benjamin 18...followed by Peter 27...followed by Ephramin 43 all joined in June and all 2 days apart, Hmmmm. As always, Frank Lemos, 11th New Jersey Volunteers
