From: laruemartin@aol.com Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2011 08:57:41 -0500 (EST) The letter that came to the Hunterdon Democrat in response to Nicholas C. Lake's query about his long lost brother was about someone else, also named Solomon Lake, but not Nicholas' brother. There is a Solomon Lake in Pennsylvania who was born in NJ 1814 and Solomon Lake in Mercer County (who died in 1879, according to several other sources than the letter to the Democrat) who was too young to have been the 25 year old who ran away in 1835. It is possible that Solomon's parents wereHenry Lake and Anna Swallow of East Amwell, NJ, married in 1813. Siblings wouldbe William, Aaron, Nicholas C., Jacob and Charles R. All the census years, 1850, 1870 and 1880show Solomon as born in NJ in 1813 or 1814. The Hunterdon Democrat article says Solomon's brother was Nicholas C.Lake. These were two posts on the ancestrymessage boards asking about Solomon Lake from Pennsylvania who was born inNJ. I posted a reply but received no response: Misty1805 asks: I am looking for information(especially parents ans siblings )of Solomon Lake. May 29, 1883, Forty-Fifth Volume, No.41 Hunterdon Democrat An item was published in this paper afew weeks since, stating that information was wanted of Solomon Lake, who left Ringoes about40 years ago. Mr. Williamson, Postmaster at Ringoes, has received a letter from NathanRobbins, of Hamilton Square, Mercer county, in which he says: "Solomon Lake came to ourplace perhaps 40 years ago, married and lived within a few miles of us, at different places, until he died, May 12, 1879.
