He m. Laura E. Price a granddau of my grgrgrgrandfather Robert Price of Hope, Warren Co.,NJ. Laura's parents were Amos Manning Price and Mary Jane Vermillion. Amos's father was Jonah Price who m. Hannah Manning, dau of Ephraim Manning and Sarah Read., dau of Joseph Read and Sarah Sutton. The reference was Sandi Read's entries under Read-Vanderburgh Connections on Ancestry.com. The interesting thing is that Jasper's descendant m. a Zehring/Zehrung whose grson lives in Utah. Joe Zehrung m. Bonnie and has entries on FamilySearch. Joe's bloodline includes a William Mikesell who appears to be from the same Mikesell ancestor as that of Sarah Cordelia Mikesell m Alvah Decker Lake, my grgrgrandparents!! I have always believed that Alvah Decker Lake met Sarah Cordelia thru family connections as the Mikesells had family in Northampton Co., PA. As a matter of fact, the Mikesells' home is the building the Northampton Co. Historical Society is housed in! Alvah worked for the railroad so I have always thought he met Sarah either thru a MIkesell family member who worked on the rr with him. Since he lied about his age, claiming to have been b. in 1852, I also believe he lied so that he could marry without consent at age 20 or for employment and/or because Sarah was older! He was actually b. in 1853 to a rather dysfuncitonal father. Unsure if Alvah was the product of an extra marital affair Jacob Waldorf Lake had with his wife's sister. It is unclear if Margaret McCracken Lake, Jacob's first wife died or if she left, but suddenly Jacob was a father of a child by his wife's younger sister Phebe B. McCracken who remained his life's partner until they separated very late in life due to Jacob's alcoholism. A marriage for this couple does not appear until 1878, 25 years after Alvah Decker Lake's birth. Another possibility is that Margaret did die and that the couple did not have the resources to marry so they just lived as man and wife. Margaret and Phebe's sister Nancy L. Sharp raised some of Jacob and Margaret's children for a while. Nancy
