Today I visited the library and looked at census records for various people.  
Here is what I found out about James WALL & Clara LAKE:

In the 1880 Ararat Township, PA Census:
    Vlasco LAKE  age 35  farmer  born PA father NJ mother PA
        (Vlasco was what it looked like to me)
    Nancy  wife 32 born PA father Eng mother PA
    Clara  daughter 13     PA            PA              PA
    George son        11      same
    Mary A daughter 9      same
    William son          7   same
    Ann  daughter       1   same

In the 1900 Ararat Township, PA Census:
    James WALL   b August, 1863 PA
    Clara May        b August 1866  age 33
    Julia L        b Feb, 1891        age 9
    Jesse A    b August 1893           6
    Rena I           b Jan 1897         3
