This ledger was apparently kept to track billing for his store at 'Worrinsvill' during the 1830s. I presume that 'Worrinsvill' was really 'Warrensville' which appears on some maps a few miles north of Hackettstown in Allamuchy Township. Other maps call this village 'Wiertown' or 'Wiretown', perhaps named after William's family? I was wondering if anyone new anything more about Wiertown or the Wier family. I believe they are related to the Wier/Weir/Wire/Weyer family of Roxbury and Washington TWPs in Morris County. Some of the names on the ledger are: Philip Dufford, John Blackwill, Richard Stephens, Elijah Blackwill, Robert Codner, George Dorsonthord, Walter Tharp, Luis Valintine, Hosakiah Drake, Jacob Trimmer, Samuel Yawger, Conrad Fron, William Wack, Gilbert Trimmer, John Benidick, Andrew Wack, David W Miller, Jacob Carn, George Wack, William Stils, Dr. Samuel Wilet, Robert Hite, Samuel Dorland, William Stephens, Ezra Pool, George Bibbee, Moses Aplegate, Tomas Lake, William Grandine, John Sharp, Andrew Bay, William Delicker, John Durnburger, plus many others that I can't make out. I've tried to preserve the original spelling in the ledger. Here's the entries from William Wier's ledger for Tomas Lake (as best as I can read them anyway) December 1840 half day (kiling?) hogs $00.25 January 1841 half day cuting (sic) wood $00.25 three quarters of day going to cut wood $00.37 April 1843 spining (sic) twelve and three quarters pound of ? $1.60 ? bushels and ? of potatoes $1.31 1844 one pound of buter (sic) $00.15 ten pounds of ? William and family removed to Ohio in 1845 so that is probably all for 'Tomas'. As near as I can tell, William Wier lived in the small village of 'Warrenville' which is sometimes referred to as Weirtown, a few miles north of Hackettstown near what is now Allamuchy State Park.
