Near the Altar where they fed On the sacred Blood and Bread, Till they rise as Christ arose Let the slumbering lambs repose. Belvidere Apollo Belvidere, NJ 30 June 1871 Death of the Hon. Amos Robins.--The Hon. Amos Robins, of New-Brunswick, N. J., died on Tuesday morning. He was a leading politician of the State, and was a prominate candidate for the nomination for Governor to be made next month. In the contest for the nomination in 1868, Mr. Robins stood next in popularity to Gov. Randolph, as shown by the final ballot. He was elected President of the State Senate in 1864, and a second time in 1870. He served as a Senator through three terms. On his final retirement from the Legislature in in [sic] 1870, a special resolution was unanimously passed by the Senate highly complimentary to Mr. Robins, with expression of regret for his retirement.
