My most distant Lake ancestor is Henry Lake Sr. (because he also has a
son Henry Lake). He is in the 1865 New York State census and is listed
in Lyons, Wayne Co. New York State with his wife Mary Lake (Hodge). This
census states that he was born in Delaware Co. New York State. Using
church records from "Christ Episcopal Church"in Lyons, New York his
birthdate is calculated to be 1797. This is the earliest grandfather I
can find. He is documented in the 1830,1840, 1850, 1860 federal censuses.

As an aside, Henry Lake jr. and his wife Eliza Jane Delevan Lake migrated
from Lyons, New York to Michigan in the early-1870's and lived there
for several years. Several of their children were born in Michigan.
The children that  were born in Michigan are: James Lake born 1873.Thomas
Lake born 1875. Emma Lake born 1877. Franklin Lake born 1879. They
returned to New York State in Lyons New York. They are listed in the
1880 census.
