From: bogus@does.not.exist.com () Date: Fri, 03 Apr 2009 02:48:20 -0000 Hi all, A long time ago I discovered an Alonzo Lake, 11 years old in the 1870 census living in Brooklyn, NY in the same building (but not the same household) as my ggg- grandparents Anthony & Sophia LAKE and their family. He was listed as the adopted son of George (b. England) & Mary (b. NJ) WOODHEAD. I had always assumed that he somehow fit into my LAKE family. I followed him through the years, always living in the same neighborhod as my LAKES, he married Mary Ann Thompson, worked in the post office, had several children and eventually retired to Bellport, L.I. Just recently I found his marriage certificate and found out that his real parents' names were John and Sarah LAKE, both born in NY. NOW, I am completely stumped !! There are NO John or Sarahs in my tree that I am aware of. My LAKES were from Quebec (original name BEAULAC). All these years tracing a stranger ! LOL Does anyone have a John & Sarah Lake who might have had a child born in 1859 in NY ? And just where do the WOODHEADS fit in? Any ideas ? Kathy
