My oldest ancestor that I am aware of is Stephen Lake, born about
1827-29 in New York state. He died Aug 19, 1862. In the 1850 census
he is shown at Rose, Wayne County, New York.  We believe this is him.
That same census shows a Chester Lake living with Stephen and word of
mouth is that they are brothers.

In the 1860 census  we find Stephen Lake and Chester Lake both living
in Calhoun County Michigan.

My father was Lyle John Lake born March 26, 1918 in Burlington, Calhoun
Co. Michigan.  He died July 1, 1973 in Bear Lake, Manistee Co. Michigan.
His father, John Alonzo Lake was born Jan 4, 1873 in Union City, MI
and died May 13, 1947 in Warsaw, Kosciusko Co. Indiana.  His father was
Alfred Lake, born Nov 12, 1851 and died Jan 1920 in Union City, Branch
Co. Michigan.  Alfred's father was Stephen Lake (see above).
