NJ court records index -- Daniel Robins Hi all, I recently rented a film at my local LDS Family History Center. The film is a card index of Hunterdon Co. Index to files including recognizances, indictments, affidavits, appeals, insolvents and miscellaneous records, 1700-1900 Index to files, R-Sc 1700-1900 FHL US/CAN Film 802488 There are MANY Robins/Robbins in the index! (The index card for "Daniel" has 33 entries for Miscellaneous records, 4 for Appeals, 1 for Indictment, and 1 for Recognizance--this last one said Daniel Jr.) The problem is that the index gives only the name and a record number--no year! I wondered if anyone among our group here has tried to look at the records associated with this index. I haven't seen the card index from LDS but I assume it's the same index which exists in Trenton and in the Hunterdon County Hall of Records in Flemington. I've went through this index and the associated records with regard to the LAKE surname but not the ROBINS surname. (I've made the LAKE-related records available at http://mlake.net/lake/NewJersey/HunterdonCoCommonPleasIndex.html if anyone is intersted.) A year can be "guesstimated" by the Roman Numeral reference (if we're talking about the same index). The lower the Roman Numeral the earlier the year beginning with 1714 (although you reference the year 1700 above ... so, maybe we're talking about different indexes). -- Marshall Lake -- mlake@mlake.net -- http://mlake.net From: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com on behalf of marcelofamilytx [tmarcelo@austin.rr.com] Sent: Thursday, December 17, 2009 5:29 AM To: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Robbinsfamilysouthjersey] Re: Hunterdon Co.
