Jacob Robins son of 4-Joseph sold property in Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co on March 10, 1758 to John & Richard Reid. On June 17, 1760, Jacob conveyed land to his son Joseph in Monmouth that he inherited from his father. An account against Jacob is found in the ledger of Dr. James Newell, dating from 1759-1762. There doesn't seem to be a will for him or other documents in NJ that mentions him after 1762. Possibly, Jacob died or moved around 1762. This area became part of Rowan Co., NC in 1753. As I interpret this 1751 list, I see Richard Robbins is paying taxes for himself as well as for his sons Jacob Robbins and Isaac Robbins. At that time taxes were levied on males age 16 and up thus providing evidence that Jacob and Isaac were born before 1735. This Jacob would be in his mid to late 20s in 1762. Continuing on the subject of Jacob Robins in Monmouth Co, however, I've seen in a published deed index reference to a deed to Jacob Robins from his nephew Christopher Nation in 1748 [G-3, p. 411]. Please, has anyone seen this deed? I am wondering why Christopher Nation who was then living in Virginia would have any property to sell. Thanks.
