If so what were their names? Any idea of his birth date & place? Sara From: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com on behalf of John German [german@jarman.net] Sent: Friday, December 12, 2008 6:47 PM To: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Robbinsfamilysouthjersey] William Robins son of Joseph Robins, Jr. Two men named William Robins appear in the 1750s in Rowan (now Randolph Co., NC). William Robins of Polecat Creek (which is in northern Randolph Co) is often "assumed" to be Joseph Jr's son because he lived near John and Bethia (Robins) Nation and was married to their dau. Frances Nation. This William wrote a will in 1786 naming sons John, Christopher, and Daniel. John the eldest was born no later than 1752. The other William Robins lived along Caraway Creek in western Randolph Co. He owned property adjacent to Joseph and John Robins who are accepted as sons of Joseph Robins Jr. It seem more reasonable to me that this William is the son of Joseph Robins Jr. Rowan Co. deed records identify this William's wife as Elizabeth - last name remains unknown. I've only identified one of the sons of William and Elizabeth Robins - his name was Joseph Robins. William Robins of Caraway Creek appears to have moved on to Pendleton Dist. SC in the 1790s. I've abstracted a few Rowan Co. deeds for Joseph, John and William Robins - I believe these are the sons named in the 1754 will of Joseph Robins Jr.: 14 Feb 1761, Henry McCullah by Jno Campbell and H.E. McCullah to William Robbins, 200 acres adjacent Joseph Robbins on Caraway Creek in Tract No. Ten; wit: Robt Rainey, Alexr Ford, John Frohock [Rowan Co. deeds, 5:339-340] 14 Feb 1761, Henry McCullah by Jno Campbell and H.E. McCullah to John Robbins, 302 acres adjacent (none named) on Caraway Creek in Tract No. Ten; wit: Robt Rainey, Alexr Ford, John Frohock [Rowan Co. deeds, 5:340] 16 Feb 1761, Henry McCullah by H.E. McCullah to Joseph Robbins, 202 acres adjacent John Robbins on Caraway Creek in Tract No. Ten; wit: Robert Jones Junr, John Frohock [Rowan Co. deeds, 5:341] (Two years later, John Robins and William (+) Robbins mortgaged their tracts back to Henry McCullah; wit: John Frohock, William Merrill [Rowan Co., deed, 5:520-521]. I've not yet found any other disposal of William's original tract.) 28 Sept 1765, John Robins and Rachel (R) his wife to Thomas Little, 100 acres adjacent Thomas Hill on Caraway Creek; wit: Wm Brown, Wm Millikan [Rowan Co. deeds, 6:263-264] 15 Feb 1768, John Robins and Rachel (R) his wife to William Robins, 202 acres on Caraway Creek "being part of a tract wihish sd John Robins purchased of Henry McCullah"; wit: Wm. Millikan, Samuel Millikan [Rowan Co. deeds, 6:568] 7 March 1770, William (+) Robins and Elizabeth his wife to Victor Thompson, 200 acres {deed says 200 acres but the metes and bounds match the 202 acres John sold him); wit: Wm Millikan, William Millikan Junr [Rowan Co. deeds, 7:264-265] 9 April 1770, Joseph (x) Robbins and Alice (AR) his wife to Abraham Woodward, 202 acres adjacent "now Victor Thompson" on Caraway Creek; wit: Wm. Millikan, Samuel Millikan [Rowan Co. deeds, 7:263-264] rom: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com on behalf of july37 [july37@cox.net] Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2008 4:33 PM To: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Robbinsfamilysouthjersey] William Robins son of Joseph Robins, Jr. John, Thanks for the explanation & deed abstracts for the two William Robins in NC. We have William Robins son of Joseph Robins, Jr. with Frances Nation as his wife in the "Robins, Robbins of NJ" book. I agree with you based on the deed abstracts that this seems to be incorrect & William son of Joseph Robins, Jr. appears to have been married to Elizabeth ? not Frances Nation. Also, we have the wife of Joseph Robins, Jr. in the book as Elenor Nation. Possibly there is some record for Elenor as a Nation but can't find it. I see the deed abstracts for 1765 & 1768 show John Robins and Rachel his wife. I have information that says that Rachel's maiden name was Robbins. Is there any documentation for Rachel as a Robbins? If she was a Robbins does she have a blood relationship to the Daniel Robins group?
