The Vincent Robins who died in Amwell Co., NJ wasn’t the Vincent Robins who went to KY to fight the Indians as you probably know. Anyhow, it does sounds like a good story. The following is from Sarah Robbins Lehman’s work, Robbins of Randolph County, NC 1750-1880. I don’t have her sources so I can’t verify what I’m giving you. Vincent Robins born 1765 in Rowan Co., NC & died 1798 in Shelby Co., Ky. He married Charity Ryker b. 1771, d. 1861 on 12 -22-1787 in Jefferson Co., KY. Source for this marriage is Kentucky Compiled Marriages. Vincent Robins was the son of William Robbins b. abt. 1733 & his wife Elizabeth Bryant 1738-1787. William’s father according to Mrs. Lehman was Elisha Robins. She writes Elisha was buried on land he owned in Randolph Co., NC. There was another researcher John German who was examining this line before he died a couple of years ago. John contacted me to see if we could link Elisha to a couple of the NJ Elisha Robins’. We were not able to find any evidence that an Elisha Robins migrated from NJ to Randolph Co., NC. John’s theory was Elisha Robins wasn’t the father of William Robbins b. abt. 1733. I have no idea of the accuracy of Elisha Robbins being or not being the father of William Robbins. If you are able to contact LouAnne Winterrowd, please ask her to provide the proof she has for Vincent Robins & his sister Azuba migrating from NJ. I understand the difficulty you have in locating the parents of Peter Robbins of Brown Co., OH. Since you & your cousin have worked on this family puzzle for many years with no success, I’d suggest you try to find a Robbins who is willing to take a Y-DNA test. This would be proof that the descendants of your Peter Robbins belong to the Daniel Robins, Sr. 1627-1714 NJ family. The person who wrote that was LouAnne Winterrowd on genealogy.com. My 3rd Great Grand Father was Peter Robbins from New Hope, Brown County Ohio ( 1810-1892 ). I have been working on connecting the Ohio family back to the New jersey families. I read the goodspeed stories about the Robbins in Amwell as well as your Book on the Robbins in New Jersey. I have communicated with a distant cousin who has been working on this puzzle for many years. We are related through the above Peter. She believes that Peter's father was Vincent Robbins who came to Kentucky along with his sister Azuba and George Washburn to help fight the Indians. Vincent was on a 1820 Census in Brown County Ohio and the children ages matched up very well with our family. His age from that census was over 45 year old. There is also a belief that Vincent Married Geertie Ryker in Kentucky. There is proof that that she married a Vincent Robbins and they had children in Kentucky before 1798. The problem is our Ohio family started in 1808 with a Vincent H. Robbins followed by our Peter in 1810 and then sisters Azubia and Ellen. On most trees they have Geertie's Vincent passing away in 1798. I would like to believe that we are related to the Ryker's with there family history but I have seen no proof. I have read about another Vincent Robbins being from North Carolina but a posting from LouAnne Winterrowd again stated that she had proof that Vincent and his sister Azuba were from New Jersey. I really would appreciate your knowledge on helping solve this family mystery. Cris Robbins
