Burke 74, of Binghamton, formerly of Jessup, PA died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Peckville, she was the adored daughter of the late Donald and Nora Mulligan McAndrew. During her youth she resided in Jessup and enjoyed weekends and summers at Lake Wallenpaupack. She was a graduate of Marywood University and taught Fourth Grade in the Scranton School District. She was married to her high school sweetheart, the late James F. Burke for 31 years. Mary spent the past 30 years in Binghamton nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved to solve crossword puzzles. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York and She is survived by her two loving daughters, Nora Bush her husband Darrell, and Kathleen Burke both of Binghamton; three grandchildren, James, Sarah and Mary Bush; in-laws, John and Carole Wojciechowski, LA, Linda Davis, NJ, and Carol McAndrew, Fl. Also surviving are a niece and a nephew; a special cousin, Michael F. Lawler, Jessup and additional cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, James P. McAndrew and cousin James Lawler. Some of her happiest memories were of time and laughter shared with her dear friends Betsy and Bob Shields, Janice Kienzler and Anne Perham. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dee Seeley for the kindness given to Mary during her illness. The funeral will be Saturday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, PA with mass at 10am at St. James Church, Jessup. Interment St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
