The following are highlights: Cornelius Robbins was born on 21 Jan 1810 in Hanover Township and died 7 Aug 1895. In 1830 he married Hannah Wiggins (d 1873) of Hanover and moved to Oswego NY, returning to Wyoming Valley and Kingston in 1847 where he remained for the rest of his life. He and Hannah had five children; John, who pre-deceased him dying in Civil War, Abner of Scranton, Elias (my gggf)and Mary of Kingston, and Etta (Esther) Pierce of Green Ridge. Cornelius' maternal grandfather, Cornelius Garrison came to this country in 1776, was a native of Alsace France and a soldier in Revolutionary War. After war he married Mary Snover of Hanover and settled in a home on the back road near Sugar Notch. In 1825 he died after being thrown from a runaway wagon. In 1861 Cornelius Robbins enlisted in the 58th Regiment, Com. E of P.V. as a private. He served 3 years before contracting yellow fever when he was sent to hospital in NC from where he was discharged in 1865. He was a member of Conyngham Post of G.A.R. of Wilkes-Barre. His funeral took place at Kingston Methodist Church being conducted by Rev. S.C. Meckel, post chaplain and Rev. H.C. McDermott, church pastor. Interment, with military honors, was in Forty Fort Cemetary. Survivors of his Civil War Regiment fired a farewell volley at close of services. It sure looks to me like I'm decended from your NJ Robbins line through John Robins/Robbins and Mary Garrison. Hope this information will he helpful to others in group! How did you locate it? I need to locate an obituary, (if it exists) for Christian Sharps. He is supposed to have died in Connecticut. Gary D. Thanks for posting the obituary on Cornelius Robbins. It gives a lot of informative details that are not always reported. His military service, his move from Hanover Township to Oswego, NY & then to Kingston were events in his life that were interesting to me. The mentioned of his maternal Garrison ancestors is a another great piece of information. All of this may be helpful to others. I'm so pleased you were able to connect. Once I had the date I asked for a look-up and Pat Hilton of that group did the legwork for me. Got the obit in today's mail. If anyone is a member of Ancestry I have my tree - Marlynn Ann Robbins - there and it's open to public. I have typed in the obits of Cornelius and my ggf Elias Howe Robbins Sr. I'm absolutely hooked on this stuff! Good luck with your CT search. Hopefully you can find a group there to help. I have all my maternal family in Lancaster County and have not been as lucky with finding informaiton on them. Lynn
