Hilgert, Orva C. of Paradise township, Monroe Co, was born Aug 1873. Our
subject great-grandparents George and Margaret, are supposed to have
been the first settlers of the county.  Their first home was a bark
cabin. George Hilgert was born in Northampton Co in 1766 and died 1851,
while his wife was born in 1768 and died 1855. They had 3 sons and
2 daughters.

Charles Hilgert, grandfather was born 1809 and died 1888, and his wife
Nancy (Coffman) was born Oct 12, 1812 and died in 1892. They had 2 sons
and 1 daughter, Uriah, Samuel and Matilda.

Samuel Hilgert, father was born Jan 1833 in Paradise. In Dec 1855 he
married Emily Henry, d/o Charles Henry of Monroe Co. Samuel died 1897.
His 1st wife died Dec 1877, leaving 4 children, Orva C., the youngest,
Frances, born 1757 married Theodore Lake of Newbury, and had one son
Theodore. Wiliam, and Minnie born 1871. For his 2nd wife he married
Elizabeth Brand, of Portland, Northampton Co. No children by this union

William Hilgert, brother of subject he married Ida Seter, who died leaving
a son Clement. He married 2nd to Alice Decker and they had 3 children,
Charles, Francis and Russell.
