George Washburn was probably born in Sussex County, NJ, son of Jeremiah Washburn and Rebecca Devore. They used traditional naming practices, they had children named, Jeremiah, Isaac, and Asubia. Garry Posted by: "Cris Robbins" crisrobbins@ymail.com crisrobbins@ymail.com Date: Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:33 am ((PDT)) Hello to the group, This is a ancestry DNA connection with a Thatcher name in common:  I compared it to my sister's account and her CM was a bit higher than mine 21 cm to 13 cm.  The one that we both have a higher 28 cm connection (  Jake Swick ) with kind of ends at William Thatcher 1795-1840 and Margaret Kemple 1800- ?. On a 1850 Census Sarah Ann was 16 yrs old and living with her sister Ellen who married a James Wilson. Interestingly on the same Census there was a Margaret " who was 56 yrs old. There was a Alexander Wilson listed above her that was 87 yrs old. Not sure if she married him or not because her last name was listed as " " ? (  My thanks to Tracey for acknowledging the theory about the missing Isaac 1735 +/- 5 yrs - 1780 being a possible                 un-named child on the 1741 Will of Isaac & Azubia. That means a lot to me. I also believe that John Robbins 1760-1840   and  his brother Daniel Robbins who left the Washington County, Pa area for Ohio around 1800 are son's of Isaac and   Sarah Sutton.)  Cris Posted by: "Cris Robbins" crisrobbins@ymail.com crisrobbins@ymail.com Date: Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:54 am ((PDT)) Marshall,  I am with you about the scottish naming patterns. They seem to change a bit with Vincent Robbins who first married Charity Ryker. There first born son was Isaac and then Gerardus Ryker Robbins. Than from memory they had a Aaron William and a Rachel Robbins Storm and finally Sara Catherine Robbins Storm.  They seemed to have honored there fallen fathers, After they split apart in 1798. Vincent must have been close to his sister Azuba and brother in law George Washburn. They went north to Brown County around 1800. Vincent and his younger brother James were in Bryd township 1812-1815 according to records found by Patty Knapke. Daniel Robbins after first living in Ross County with his brother John decided to move to  Adams County Ohio that was close to the river that divided Kentucky and Ohio. Bryd township where Vincent and James were at soon became part of the newly created Brown County 1816. If have attached the known names of that wretched name continuation of that beloved name Azubia in my Ohio family... Cris' Isaac died before 1782, likely in Washington Co. Pennsylvania Isaac's widow Sarah married James Sutton before June 1782. The children I've established as those of Isaac and Sarah are as follows (Cris--make corrections to this as you probably have better info than I do at this point!) John Robbins b. 10 Apr 1760 in Sussex Co. NJ, moved to Washington Co. PA around 1778; moved to Ross Co. Ohio around 1798. Died 1841 Ross Co. Ohio m. Sarah Dailey (He was a Rev War veteran and applied for a pension, which gave his birth date, birth place, and dates and places of residences throughout his life.) Daniel Robbins b. between 1761-1770; d. 1846 Adams Co. Ohio. m. Sarah Leedom Isaac Robins b. after 1761 died unknown William Robbins b. between 1762-1770 d. about 17 Oct 1795, Tippecanoe, Indiana; died intestate; Indian massacre; Inventory of estate recorded in Shelby Co. Kentucky m. Rachel Ryker James born after 1763 d. 1836 Scott Co. Ohio. m. Mary Lastly in 1797 Shelby Co. KY; m. 2nd Cynthia Lucas 1823 Scott Co. Ohio Azubia Robbins b. 1768 d. 1830 Brown Co. Ohio m. George Washburn. Vincent Robbins born before 1774. Died between 1847 and 1850; likely in Brown Co. Ohio. m. Charity Ryker 1787 Jefferson Co. KY; separated or divorced before 1801. m. Mary Polly ? about 1798. m. Nancy Haynes 08 Oct 1822 Brown Co. Ohio Tracey Posted by: "Cris Robbins" crisrobbins@ymail.com crisrobbins@ymail.com Date: Tue Oct 15, 2019 7:09 pm ((PDT)) On Ancestry I have communicated with an ancestry member kbergheimer ,  who has run into a brick wall with a Isaac H. Robbins who married a PA born women Catherine Cannon. He was granted land in Logan County Ohio after serving in Kentucky prior to 1820. The main sticking point with the family is the reported date of birth in Maryland 9/30/1774. His death was in 12/29/1860 in Quincy, Logan County, Ohio, United States of America. His first son was Isaac Cannon Robbins 1819-1910.  James Robbins was listed in the Beers book as a constable a few times. His marriage to his 2nd wife was 12/25/1823 Cythnia Lucas.  Thanks Tracey for resharing his first wife Mary Lastly I could not recall her name. After James passed away around 1836 ? in Union Brown County his widow remarried a John Jacobs on 7/26/1838. On the 1840 Census for Union there was a James Robbins listed but he was a younger man. I assume that he was a son of James and his first wife since the dates matched up. Cythnia and her husband John Jacobs moved to Franklin Brown County to live with many other Lucas family members. I found a weird Census on Peter Robbins from 1840 to 1850, they gained a 17 yr old child in that 10 years. I suspect that George B. Robbins who after studying his age changes throughout the later part of the 1800's kept changing. On his death record his birth was Oct of 1832. Peter Robbins had a proven son Martin Van Buren Robbins born in March of 1833. I believe he may have been a son James Robbins and Cythnia Lucas and was a farm apprentice for his cousin Peter.  I have faith in all the other children listed including William Robbins being married to relative of Charity Ryker who was killed in a Indian attack.  That pretty much accounts for all the possible Isaac Robbins and Sarah ? Robbins Sutton. I have spent a lot of time trying to find the truth about which James Sutton since most information is about a Rev. J. Sutton. After leaving Washington Co he seemed to have traveled to KY and then to Indiana where he died around 1828 ? I found a Benjamin Sutton in the Eagle Brown County census in 1820 who led back to the N.J. Sutton clan, but they were also in North Carolina for a time. I really found the information on the sale of the residue property of Isaac in 1755 very interesting in building a time line for Isaac Jr.   That could mean that mother Azubia Thatcher Robbins lived in the family house with her underage children until her death. Isaac jr. could possible be placed in Amwell and married a Sarah ? who was also a local young lady. Thanks again for focusing on the possible relationships with the senior Isaac and his wife. Lou Ann Winterowd suspected this relationship in her 15 -20 year old posts.  Cris Posted by: "Garry Heagy" gheagy@netflash.net gheagy@netflash.net Date: Wed Oct 16, 2019 6:10 am ((PDT)) Tracey, Very good, that was my point. From the 1782 Tax List for Nottingham Twp, Washington County, PA: Robins, Daniel £1.1.0 From the 1783 Tax List for Nottingham Twp, Washington County, PA: Robins, John 226 acres 2.0.5 Daniel No land 0.1.6 Thomas 0.1.0 Posted by: "Tracey Marcelo" tracey.marcelo@gmail.com marcelofamilytx Date: Wed Oct 16, 2019 6:23 am ((PDT)) Right. What this tells me is that Isaac Robins who died before 1782 (and likely died before this tax list in 1781) was the eldest Robins on this property. And his son Daniel was the one who was taxed for it after Isaac died. Daniel was born no earlier than 1761. Why would the younger Robbins have property in 1781? Why would a minor have land and be paying tax in 1781? Why does John have 226 acres in 1783 and his brother Daniel has no land? Garry Posted by: "Tracey Marcelo" tracey.marcelo@gmail.com marcelofamilytx Date: Wed Oct 16, 2019 4:18 pm ((PDT)) All excellent questions! I have no answers. I do believe the Daniel and John are related to Isaac, however. More research should be done it sounds like! Tracey Posted by: "Garry Heagy" gheagy@netflash.net gheagy@netflash.net Date: Thu Oct 17, 2019 2:25 am ((PDT)) Tracey, I’ll give you my theory. Daniel Robbins on the 1781 Tax List is the father of John born 1760 and Daniel born about 1762. Daniel Sr. died about 1782. In 1783, the oldest son, John, has ownership of the property. Daniel Jr. is now 21 years old and is taxed. They probably also have a brother Thomas. When I was researching this family 2-3 years ago I read that John and Daniel were not sons of Isaac’s but were cousins of his children. Unfortunately, I didn’t save the source. It’s entirely possibly that my suspected Daniel Robbins Sr. is a brother of Isaac. That would explain their New Jersey roots and their proximity to each other in Washington County, PA. Garry Date: Wed, 20 May 2020 14:49:35 -0500 From: Tracey Marcelo I don't think  this John is a son of Joshua. The  John you are asking about had a brother Daniel who was born between 1761-1770 and died in Adams Co. Ohio in 1846. Daniel was married to Sarah Leedom. Joshua's son Daniel was likely born between 1730-1740, was married to Sarah Blatchley, and died before 1793, when his widow  Sarah and 6 of their children moved to Ontario Canada. (The eldest of their children that I've identified was Miller Robbins b. 06 Jul 1758 in Oxford twp Sussex Co. NJ and died in Lawrence Co. Ohio between 1845 and 1853.) At one time, there was speculation that these two were the sons of Isaac Robbins and wife Sarah. This Isaac died in Washington Co. PA before 1782 and is the father of Cris Robbins' ancestor Vincent Robbins of Brown Co. Ohio. Cris might be able to speak to whether he still considers John and Daniel possible brothers to his Vincent. Date: Wed, 20 May 2020 20:32:40 -0400 From: Gmail I’m not used to getting Gmail. I still believe that Daniel And John were older brothers to Vincent, Azubia Washburn, William, James and Isaac. In the Beers Brown County History book they mentioned Daniel Robbins starting a church out of his house. Daniel and Sara Leedom lived in Adams county but the county line changed in 1816 to form Brown County. Vincent and James Robbins were found to be living in Bryd Township from 1812-1815 by Patty Knapke. Patty is a Storm family researcher who descend from the same Vincent G. Robbins who was married to Charity Ryker. Patty went to the Brown County Genealogy museum and she found that information. Daniel Robbins and Sara Leedom also lived in Bryd Township at that same time. Azubia Washburn and George Washburn left Kentucky around 1800 and moved to generally the same area. It was all called Adams County until the formation of the new county. There is a Beers Adams county history that I found on-line and read that Daniel Robbins was a tavern owner.    John Robbins married Sara Dailey and stayed in Ross County, Ohio until there death. Tracey found land records of both John and Daniel living in close proximity of the land in Nottingham (Mingo Creek) Washington County, PA.  There history is found on this site   http://shelbycountyindiana.org/family_records/fam_robins.htm [shelbycountyindiana.org] I remember reading that they both moved from Pennsylvania to Ross County, Ohio but Daniel and family moved to Adams County due to water concerns.   Hope that was helpful ! Date: Wed, 20 May 2020 20:58:25 -0400 From: Gmail My assumption due to the will of Isaac Robbins who died in 1741 was that Isaac Jr. must have born around 1735 and was considered to young to be acknowledge in his will. Garry Enlighted me that mother Azubia Thatcher Robins widow of Isaac lived to around 1755. I’m assuming that Isaac’s brother Job who ended up with the land didn’t evict her but instead let her live there until her death. Isaac Robbins Jr. whose family ended up living in close quarters with Jeremiah Washburn in Nottingham PA is theorized must have also lived in Sussex County NJ where John and Daniel Robbins are reported to have been born. Jeremiah Washburn also came from Sussex Co. NJ and when Isaac Robbins Jr. died around 1780 they all moved together down to Mason County, KY.  Lou Ann Winterrowd posted her Washburn, Robbins and other Allied families research back around 2000. Her research proved to be very accurate.               www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/robbins/3621/    A lot of assumption’s but I’m a believer. I wish Lou Ann Winterrowd still participated.
