Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2005 16:19:37 -0800 (PST) From: "Lois Lake Ammerman" Since the early 1990's my now deceased father Robert D. Lake, and I have worked on the parentage of Moses. He even engaged the help of Jean Morris a professional researcher, genealogist. The following is in part her report to us as of May 14, 1998. from the Law Library Tax records Washington, Co ,Pa "Nottingham Twp 1783 - 84 Lick, Amona 2 horses 2 cows 1785 Leak Amerah 1786 Leaks, Americk skip to 1801 Lake, Moses "cooper 10 acres 1 cow 1802 same 1803 same 1804 same 1805-06 X'd off 1807-08 1808-09 Census 1800 Moses and Aaron in Nottingham Twp, Washington Co, Pa 1809-10 Moses is in Elizabeth Twp. Allegheny Co, Pa" From my research notes a grandson recalls his grandfather stating that his (Moses) family came by the way of Chesapeake and that he had lost all track of his brother and sisters because he was 'bound out' at an early age. The way this comment was written down , it is not clear if he was bound out somewhere outside of western Pa and travelled there or that his family was already there. We have extensive documentation from 1820 on deeds, will, church records but have never been able to definitely link him with any of those mentioned in the early Washington Co,Pa tax records. He was bound out and lost track of the rest of the family.  They came via Chesapeake Bay" As to when he was bound out: Best guess would be8- 9-10 years of age The family Bible has him born in 1803. .Moses appears  on a voter list 1820,in Elizabeth ,Pa (Allegheny Co).  . From 1840 on we have extensive census data, church records, deeds etc. There is even a Pgh newspaper feature of the last home he built in Union Tsp (Washington Co) This home is being used as a residence today. Date: Fri, 31 Jan 2020 09:15:26 -0600 From: Lois Ammerman According to the narrative I mentioned Moses 'lost all track of his siblings" Yes,it has been a while but in fact Cal Boyd was a cousin of my dad's, Robert D. Lake. They communicated regularly as our research progressed . I will need to make a major correction to the information that we had early on and put on ANCESTRY site. Jean Morris, a professional genealogist did some Lake research for us  in 1997 and made this correction. Moses Lake married Eliza McKinley who was the daughter of Andrew and Barbara Reed McKinley. This is where the REED middle name for Oliver comes from. The McKinley family immigrated to US from Ireland in 1792 and first settled in Chester Co MD/PA.After 2 years they removed to Lincoln Twp,(near Elizabeth,Pa) where they purchased a farm. Moses and Eliza had 2 children,Oliver Reed (b. 1844-d.1910) and Isabelle (Eliza) Lake b.1840-d.1876) Later today I will generate a chart from my Family Tree software for you. Births, deaths, marriages  deeds, wills, headstones and are  in my files for both. Bob and I are aware of the Gravesend and Bedford Co Lakes, but again cannot make definite connections.
