MARGARET “PEGGY” MURPHEY, born ca. 1777 or, more likely 1778, died 26
Nov. 1854 in her 78th year; buried in the Newport Common Burial Ground;
[30] married by Michael Eddy of the First Baptist Church in Newport on
7 May 1801 to Capt. WILLIAM PRICE, both of Newport, [31] born ca. 1777,
died 12 March 1833 in his 57th year, buried with Margaret. [32]

3. John Price, born Newport ca. 2 June 1806; died Fall River, Mass., 26
Feb. 1859 aged 42 years 8 months 24 days, a grocer; buried in Newport;
[50] married Newport 13 Sept. 1836 Charlotte Lake, daughter of Benjamin
[51] and Elizabeth (Hopkins) Lake, born Middletown, R.I., 23 April 1806,
[52] died 18 June 1846 aged 40, buried Island Cemetery, Newport. [53] In
1856 John Price was at the same address as his brother James, 6 Mary St.,
Newport, but was not listed there in 1858. [54] See John’s brother James
below for John’s two children, Emily, wife of Walter Weeden, and William
Price, who was under 21 in 1870.

and died of intemperance, his birthplace and parents unknown. Alden G. Beaman, “Inscriptions
from Island Cemetery, Newport,” Rhode Island Genealogical Register, 7:175, lists him with no
stone next to his wife Charlotte.
