Mary, dau. of Stephen Goodyear, deputy gov. of New Haven Colony; came early to Boston. Was engaged in trade and had extensive land interests in Maine. He deposed in Boston July 30, 1663, ae. about 48 years, about Penobscot lands, for which he had paid rent to Col. Temple. App. com. to hold next co. ct. in Devonshire (Kennebec) in May 1675 and May 1676. Son of Richard and Anne (Morraly) of Irby, co. Line., his older half-bro., Sir Edward, LL.D., already knighted, was created a baronet by Charles I. Their bro. John, merchant in Boston, m. here Lucy Bulkelely, and two ch. of another bro., Luke, named in the wills of John and Sir Edw., came to Boston, the girl, Mary in nunc. will proved by Dr. Increase Mather, giving 1/3 to her Aunt Lake.
