"Peg" Tharp, 95, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at the Lopatcong Center in Lopatcong Township, NJ. Peg was born in Phillipsburg on Aug. 22, 1923, to the late Thomas and Rose Azzalina Attinello. Peg was a medical transcriptionist in radiology at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg from 1970 until her retirement in 2002. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1941, and attended both Churchman's Business School of Easton, PA, and Somerset Community College. Peg was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She served as president of the Phillipsburg School Board from 1977 to 1979, was a life member of the New Jersey Parent Teachers Association, a life member of the Phillipsburg Historical Society, a charter member of the Phillipsburg AARP and the first chairman of the board of trustees for the Phillipsburg Senior Center. Peg is survived by sons, Donald Tharp and his wife, Joann, of Stewartsville, NJ, and Thomas Tharp and his wife, Katherine, of Bethlehem, PA; daughters, Joanne Antoni and her husband, David, of Durham, PA, Diane Reiss and her husband, Bruce, of Rome, NY, and Linda Smith and her husband, Robert, of Phillipsburg; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Peg was predeceased by her husband, Donald O. Tharp, and her four siblings. A service for Peg will be announced at a later date.
