Star-Courier; Kewanee IL; 2005-1-10 GENESEO - Albert Lake, 91, formerly of Geneseo, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Heartland Health Center, Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded and private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. He was born Jan. 7, 1914, in London, England, the son of Charles and Ada (Bragger) Lake. He married Maisey Davies on July 23, 1938, in London. She died on Feb. 13, 2002. Surviving are a son, Ray (Julie) Lake of Geneseo; a daughter, Mrs. Ken (Irene) Kerr of Finleyville, Pa.; grandchildren Tracianne and Robin Kerr of Finleyville, Megan and William Stewart of Pittsburgh, Jonathan Lake of Ames, Iowa, and Jennifer Lake of Columbia, S.C.; great-grandchildren Jason Vogelsburger, Kenny Giehll and William Stewart; and several nieces and nephews in England. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, John Kerr; a great-granddaughter, Nina Vogelsburger; and four sisters. He was a Royal Air Force veteran of World War II, stationed in Ireland and India. After the war, he worked for the British government, establishing trade schools in Africa. The family moved to the United States on Sept. 16, 1951. They lived in Pittsburgh, Georgia, Cincinnati and Chicago before moving to Geneseo in 1991. He retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1974 after 15 years. He was a member of the AF&AM. He enjoyed playing golf and crossword puzzles.
