Janesville Gazette; Janesville WI Moore, Alfred William Jan. 3, 1922 - April 26, 2002 (Published Saturday, April 27, 2002 6:34:45 PM CDT) JANESVILLE--Alfred William Moore, age 80, formerly of 1231 Vista Ave., died Fri. morning, April 26, 2002, at Four Winds Lodge, Verona, WI. Alfred was born on Jan. 3, 1922, in Janesville, the son of William and Winifred (Lakin) Moore. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1940, and he served in the US Army-Air Corps. during World War II. Alfred was employed by Parker Pen Co. for 40 years. Al loved to read. His main interests were history, the Civil War, and British history. He made weekly trips to the Janesville library for reading material. In recent years, he enjoyed the New York Times, especially the Science Times section and the recipes section as he loved to cook. Al was an avid hunter and fisherman. His expertise in fly tying was well known in the Rock County area. He taught many young persons the skill and gave courses at the UW-Rock County campus. He was active in various outdoor organizations including Trout Unlimited, the National Rifle Assoc., and its Institute for Legislative Action. Al was a member of first Christian Church, Janesville, where he held many positions over the years. Al was especially proud of his most treasured granddaughter, Albrey, who is an honor student at Oregon High School this year, and she will attend the University of Minnesota next year, to major in architecture and interior design. Al was always known as a great neighbor having resided on Vista Ave., Janesville, for nearly 80 years, and he will be missed by all. Surviving are 2 daughters, Judy Moore, DDS of Madison, and Connie Moore of Oregon, WI; a granddaughter, Albrey Diece of Oregon, WI; and a sister, Winifred Buchanan of Tucson, AZ. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by an infant son. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Mon., April 29, 2002, at FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 1909 Highland Ave., Janesville, with Rev. Dee Ann Woods officiating. Private burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Hedberg Public Library. The HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, Janesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
