The Kennebec Journal Augusta, Maine Wednesday, January 6, 2010 - pg B4, col 3-4 FARMINGTON - Alice M. Lake, 95, of Wilton died Monday Jan. 4, 2010, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1914, in North Jay, the daughter of Chester and Ruth Thompson Miller Bryant. She graduated from Wilton Academy in 1932 and went on to graduate from Bates College in 1936. On July 3, 1937, she married Rex H. Lake in North Jay. He died on Nov. 26, 1998. Alice was a loving homemaker to her husband and family. She was very involved in the Community through her memberships in in the North Jay Grange (from which she was the recipient of the 80-year membership pin), Wilton Extension, Wiltona Club, Monday Bridge Club, First Congregational Church of Wilton UCC and Wilton Lake Country Club. She enjoyed birds and flowers, reading, sewing, knitting, playing Scrabble and especially bridge. She also loved spending time at her camp on Brettuns Pond and cheering for the Red Socks and Celtics Alice is survived by her children, Howard Lake and his wife, Brenda, of Readfield, Lorraine Carlton and her husband, Rick, of Wilton, and Edward and his wife, Brenda, of Winthrop; grandchildren, Dan Lake, of Boston, Josh Lake, of Readfield, Andy Carlton and his wife, Beth, of Fairfield, Joel Carlton and his fiancee, Michelle McCollister, of Mechanic Falls, Todd Lake and his wife, Cheryl, of Newport, Tammy Lake and Troy Lake of Waltham, Mass.;and five great-grandchildren. she was predeceased by her brother, Linwood Miller. Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Wilton Congregational Church with the Rev. Margaret Proctor and the Rev. John Tolman co-officiating. A time of memorial visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton. Spring interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.
