Dunkle Alvah Pearl Dunkle, 96, of Luray, died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at MontVue Nursing Home. She was born on July 5, 1904 in Compton and was a daughter of the late Charles Clinton and Nettie Mae Cullers Martin. Mrs. Dunkle was a private duty nurse in Pennsylvania and the Washington, D.C., area and was a member of the Church of the Valley in Shenandoah. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Lake and William Dunkle. She is survived by a daughter, Jan L. Presgraves of Luray; two sons, Charles W. Lake of Hanover, Pa., and Truman Lake of McSherrytown, Pa.; a brother, Albrey Martin of Ijamsville, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. A graveside service was conducted on Saturday, March 3, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray by the Rev. Alfred C. Comer Jr.
