Winnipeg Free Press Winnipeg MB Canada October 27, 2004 ANGELA C. LAKE Suddenly on October 24, 2004, Angela Lake passed away at Grace Hospital at the age of 79. Cherished by her memory are her son, James; sister Mary; sister-in-law Catheran and many nieces, nephews, friends and students. She was predeceased by her soul mate and husband of 47 years, James "Jimmy" Lake; sisters and brothers, Rose (Sam), Sam (Isabel), Joey (Roy), Mike, Julie (Sid) and brother-in-law Duffy. Angela started her entertainment career at four years old and was the youngest professional entertainer, performing three shows a night, singing, dancing, acrobatics and comedy. It was at the Beacon Theatre where she met the love of her life, the drummer, Jimmy. At 16 years old, on January 1, 1942, Jimmy and Angela were married. Their son, James, was born in 1948. Angela dedicated her life to her family, studio and students. Her love of people was expressed in a lifetime of performing and teaching. She started her studio in the early 60s, and taught in numerous community centres around the city. She is well respected in the Italian community and founded the Italian Canadian League of Manitoba Folk Dancers and the Sicilian Folk Dancers. All of her many students were dearly loved by her and gave her great enjoyment. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30, at 2:30 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Angelas memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
