The Saratogian Saratogian Springs NY 07/14/2006 Mrs. Anita (Young) Lake SARATOGA SPRINGS --Mrs. Anita (Young) Lake, formerly of Roberts Lane, passed away Wednesday at Saratoga Hospital. She was 94. Born on June 4, 1912 in Syracuse, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Elvina (Rapp) Young. Mrs. Lake grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse University in 1933 and also attained her master's degree in education there. She married John M. Lake in 1938 and moved to Saratoga Springs in 1951. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lake were high school teachers in the Saratoga Springs City School District for many years, retiring together in 1973. Mrs. Lake was a member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church and a proud sister of Phi Mu sorority. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed needlework of all types. She was an enthusiastic traveler with her husband in their retirement. Her strong affection for her pets provided many years of comfort and compassion as well. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, John M. Lake, who died Nov. 30, 1991; one brother, Ernest Young, one sister, Viola Sneddon and her son-in-law, Francis Mazierski, who died April 5, 2003. Survivors include her loving daughter, Cheryl Mazierski, (wife of the late Francis Mazierski) and her grandson, Ryan Mazierski, both of Gansevoort; several nieces and nephews and their families. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373 or burkefuneralhome.com) followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Brolin Parker, pastor of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot at Maplewood Cemetery, Louden Road. Many thanks go to the caring health care workers who supported her in her later years. Her personable spirit made her a favorite. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
