Frederick News Post Frederick, MD April 8, 2010 Mrs. Anna Catherine Stup, 85, of Walkersville, died suddenly Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late C. Edgar Stup. Born in Jefferson on May 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Sigler) and William Cochran Lakin. Anna, along with her husband, operated a dairy farm for most of their lives. She then was an employee of Glade Animal Hospital for a number of years. Anna had great love for her family and was a homemaker who had the best of gardens, which she loved to share with family and friends. She was a devoted member and supporter of Glade United Church of Christ. She also had memberships with the Walkersville Senior Center and the Glade Valley Grange. Survivors include her loving children, Patsy L. Wiles and husband, Charles Thomas of Thurmont, C. William Stup and friend, Sharon Orwig, of Walkersville, Judith A. Kummell and husband, John, of Catonsville, and Terri L. Grimm and husband, John O. Jr., of Frederick; five grandchildren, Joseph and Stephanie Paige and Kacie, Morgan and Lexie Grimm; her twin sister, Catherine Anna Conaway; a sister, Mary Margaret Clark; a sister-in-law, Ruth D. Lakin; and many special nieces and nephews. Anna also will be missed by her many close and dear friends she made throughout her life. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Alan Wiles; a sister, Edna C. Michael; and brothers, Charles W., William Henry and Richard S. Lakin. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Ave., Walkersville. The Rev. Terry Foor and the Rev. Dr. Gerald Hanberry will officiate. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made in Anna's name to Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Ave., P.O. Box 236, Walkersville, MD 21793.
