Topeka Capital-Journal; Topeka KS; 2006-9-21 Anna Mae LAKE, 71, of Blue Rapids KS, passed away at the hospital in Marysville (KS) on Tuesday evening, Sept 19th. She was born May 26, 1935 in McFall MO, the daughter of Russell and Velma COMBS SHAFER. She was raised in Valley Falls (KS) and attended high school there. She lived in Topeka (KS) following her marriage and was a bus driver for the Seaman School District. After moving to Blue Rapids, she continued to drive school buses for the Valley Heights School District until retiring earlier this year. She was past president of the VFW Post #4175 Auxiliary in Blue Rapids and had been an instructor with the Kansas Hunter Safety Education in Topeka. She was married to Frank LAKE on Dec 22, 1953 in Winchester KS. Mr Lake passed away on Feb 4, 2006. She is survived by her son, Ronald LAKE of Topeka; daughters, Janet RICHARDSON of Rossville (KS), Cathy THOMPSON of Topeka, Angela SMITH of Blue Rapids, and Pamela FARRANT of Meriden (KS); one sister, Betty ETEEYAN of Topeka; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Harold James and daughter Carla Sue in 1960. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday, Sept 22nd at Davidson Funeral Home (Topeka). The family will receive friends from 7-8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. She will lie in state from 1-9 on Thursday at the funeral home.
