The Chronicle Telegram; Elyria OH; 2004-12-12 Arthur Lake,74, of Apple Valley and formerly of Avon Lake,Ohio died Wednesday,Dec08,2004 at Knox County Community Hospital, Mount Veron, after a sudden illness. Born in Cleveland,Ohio,he lived in Avon Lake for 30 years. He moved from Avon Lake to Apple Valley 10 years ago. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Lake was a tree warden for the city of Cleveland and retired as a supervisor of the West Side Shade Tree Division in 1984. While living in Avon Lake, he served on the zoning board and was a member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ and the Golden Crescent Chorus, Barbershop Quartet. He also was a life member of American Legion Post 211,Avon Lake. Mr Lake also belonged to the East Knox Lions Club and the Apple Valley Lake Committee and Fishing Club. He enjoyed boating,traveling and outdoor activities. Survivors include his wife of 52 years,Lillian(nee Bossell); a son, Arthur A. of New London; a granddaughter; a greatgrandson; and a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Holm; his father, Oscar Lake; his stepfather , Lawrence Holm a sister, Bertha Reinbolt. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake.Ohio. THe Rev.Kelly Boyte Peters,pastor will officate.
