AVALEES SMITH
    Batesburg-Leesville -- Services for Avalees Lake Smith, 76, or 240
Elizabeth St., will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2003 at
West Creek Baptist Church with burial in Ridge Crest Memorial Park.
The Rev.  Earl Alford and the Rev. Dennis Campbell will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jim Price, Melvin Black, Lanar Lake, Darrell, Gary,
Terry, Gene and Andy Aleshire.  The family will receive friends from
6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milton Shealy Funeral Home and other times
at her residence.  Memorials may be made to West Creek Baptist Church
Building Fund, Rt. 1, Box 231, Batesburg, SC 29006.
    Mrs. Smith died Sunday, January 26, 2003.  Born in Saluda County,
she was the daughter of the late George S. and Risper Smith Lake.
She was a homemaker and a member of West Creek Baptist Church.
    Surviving are her husband, Theodore G. Smith, daughters, Gloria
Lesa Smith and Sherri Lynn Waters, all of Batesburg-Leesville; brother,
Cyril N.  Lake of Saluda;grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Smith and Christina
Cherie Short.  She was preceded in death by brother, George M. Lake.
