She was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated Honors with Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa in 1944, from Northwestern University. In 1948, she married Jack Garlich in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, Jack; three children, Emily Garlich, of Shelton Wash., Elizabeth Huxter, of Grand Forks, British Columbia, Ca., John Garlich, of Boulder, Colo.; four grandchildren, Emily and Doug, of Vancouver, Ca, Gretchen, of Dunedin, N.Z. and Anna of Hawaii. Barbara was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Tudor Guild and PEO when she lived in Ashland. She enjoyed reading, knitting, hiking, family and friendships. In earlier years, she back packed and mountain climbed. Memorials can be given to Chapter EE, PEO Memorial Endowment Fund or Trinity Episcopal Church, Ashland. The family will spread her ashes at a later time.
