The Lima News; Lima OH; 2004-12-28 BARBARA JEAN BLACK, 77, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Lima, died at 4:50 p.m. Nov. 5, 2004, in Spokane. She was born April 16, 1927, in Minneapolis. She was adopted and raised by Edward B. and Thelma E. VanPatten Lake, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 13, 1947, she married Russell E. Black, who survives. Mrs. Black had been a supervisor in the business office at Lima Correctional Institution. She was a member and past president of Social Order of the Beauceant and a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Spokane, Wash. She was a former member of Trinity Chapter 16 Order of Eastern Star. Survivors also include three sons, Danny E. Black of San Diego, Michael B. Black of Anaheim, Calif., and Thomas P. Black of Lima; and two grandsons, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters. Memorial services will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, which will be conducted by the Social Order of the Beauceant. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
