Barbara Lake 12/14/01 (The Saginaw News, Saginaw MI) Lake, Barbara Kay, Elsie, Michigan. Went to be with her precious Lord on Thursday morning, December 13, 2001, at her home after a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Age 58 years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Pastor William Stites will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Henderson, Mich. Friends may call at the chapel on Friday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Barbara was born June 13, 1943 in Durand, the daughter of Roy and Tressa (Cramer) Holbrook. She lived in Durand and Corunna most of her life. Barbara worked at American Aerosol, American Record, and Mid-West Abrasives and drove bus for both the RESD and the S.C.O.A. On November 16, 1984 she and Richard B. Lake were married in Lennon, Michigan. They moved to Elsie in 1994 to retire and continue raising Golden Retrievers at Hilltop Goldens Kennel, which they started in 1985 on Lytle Road in Corunna. Barbara made many precious friends while placing her puppies in caring homes. She also enjoyed her horses, bird watching, gardening and grooming her dogs and caring for many litters of puppies. She was a member of Fenmore Baptist Church in Elsie. In November 2001 Barbara led her family member to the Lord, as she wanted to be reunited with all those she loved in Heaven.
