 McKILLOP. Barbara (Lake) McKillop, 71, died on Thursday, (Aug. 7,  1997).
 She was born in Brooklyn,  New York and spent many years there before
 moving to Milford and West Hartford, following her marriage in 1970 to
 Francis X. McKillop. She taught at Fordham University, New York City for
 20  years, and Saint Joseph College,  West Hartford, for 15 years,
 developing programs in special education at both institutions. She co-
 founded the early childhood special education program at Saint Joseph.
 She graduated from Fordham and Columbia Universities with a doctorate in
 special education from Teachers College,  Columbia. For many years, she
 was active in the Council for Exceptional Children and was President of
 the New York State Federation. She was a fellow of the American
 Association of Mental Retardation. Most recently, she has been active in
 the Julie Education Center, a program for unwed teenaged mothers, and in
 the Mercy Housing and Shelter Corporation. She was a member of the Adult
 Learning Program and the American Association of University Professors,
 Emeritus Assembly. Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister;
 Marjorie Lake Shaw and her husband Allen of Austin TX., two nieces in
 Austin; Mary Shaw Sondgeroth and Dan Sondgeroth, Jane Shaw Lewis and Paul
 Lewis, a nephew in North Carolina; Michael Craig Shaw and Barbara,
 another nephew in South Carolina; Christopher Allen Shaw and Katy, and
 several great nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday, (August
 11), 9:15  a.m., from the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West
 Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Peter Claver
 Church, West Hartford. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West
 Hartford. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-8 p.m., in the funeral home.
 Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Housing and Shelter Corp., 118
 Main St., Hartford; to the Julie Education Center, Saint Patrick and
 Saint Anthony Church, Hartford;  to Saint Joseph College, 1678 Asylum
 Ave., West Hartford; or to Saint Peter Claver Church, 47  Pleasant St.,
 West Hartford.
