Telegraph Journal; Saint John NB Canada; 2008-5-28 Barbara F. Patterson 1917-2008 Barbara Fellows (Lake) Patterson of Fredericton died at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 27, 2008. The wife of Everett W. Patterson, she resided on Parkhurst Drive. Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late George M. Lake and Annie K. Lake. She is survived by her husband and three sons: Stephen (Linda), Rodney (Sharyn), and Christopher, all of Fredericton; four grandchildren: Jennifer Johnstone (Alastair), Melissa Patterson, Joel Patterson (Kelly Dickson), Holly Patterson; and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, George; a sister, Emily; and a brother, Roland. She attended schools in Newcastle and Fredericton where she graduated from Fredericton High School. She worked for several years in the business office of the Victoria Public Hospital. She was an active member of Christ Church (Parish) Church (St. Anne's) and was a founding member in the 1940s of the Monday Evening branch of the W.A. (now, the A.C.W.). Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she loved church work and her association with church women. She was an avid amateur painter and enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with others in art classes and her craft group. An enthusiastic bridge player, she played with the same bridge club for over fifty years, and often was a regular or a substitute in other groups. Rarely idle, she loved reading and always had a book at hand. There will be no visitation. Following cremation, her memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2, at 2 p.m., at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Westmorland Street. The service will be conducted by The Rev. Anthony Kwaw assisted by The Ven. John Sharpe and The Rev. Joyce Perry. Following the service, there will be an informal reception at the church. The family has requested no flowers, but those who wish may donate to the St. Anne's Chapel Restoration Fund. Arrangements are in the care of McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home.
