Barbara Stryker Lake

Sept. 14, 1923 - Jan. 7, 2009

Barbara Stryker Lake passed away Jan. 7 at Brookstone Alzheimer's Center
in Salem. She was born in Long Island, N.Y., on Sept. 14, 1923. Barbara
was the only child of Verne and Alice Lake. She never married.

Barbara lived life with a passion for friends, travel and adventure. She
was dearly loved by her friends, who enjoyed her humor and wit. She
enjoyed engaging in good political rhetoric. She was fluent in French and
lived at different times in France, as well as England. Her adventurous
spirit at the age of 71 led her to move to Corvallis from her childhood
home in Long Island. Her grandfather had been a professor at Oregon State
University.  Friends admired Barbara's courage to follow her heart. She
was a wonderful friend and a great inspiration to live life fully with
grace and intention.  Barbara's spirited enjoyment of life and laughter
will be deeply missed.

No memorial service is scheduled per Barbara's request. Memorials can
be made to a charity of your choice in her honor. Arrangements are by
McHenry Funeral Home.
