The Chronicle-Herald, Volume 58, Number 108 {Issue number confirmed} Saturday May 6, 2006 Halifax NS Canada LAKE, Barry Ernest - 53, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, May 4, 2006, in the VG Site, QEII, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 16, 1953, in Neil's Harbour and raised in Dartmouth, he was a son of Gladys (Cameron) Lake, Dartmouth, and the late Arthur Lake. Barry spent 25 years with the Canadian Military as a photographer. After retirement, he continued working in the same capacity with the public service. Barry was an avid sports enthusiast and greatly enjoyed playing Slow-Pitch with the Colby Ale House Team in the Colby Village Men's Slo-Ptich League. Barry was an avid reader with a keen interest in history and geography. Barry's children were his pride and joy and he was so very proud of them and their accomplishments. Along with his mother, Barry is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, the former Lyne Anne-Marie Rondeau; daughter, Jennifer, and son, Michael, both at home; sisters, Virginia and Clare, both of Halifax; brothers, Paul (Janina), Dartmouth; Vernon (Debra), Windsor; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Barry's family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday in Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Colby Village, Father Paul Morris officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
