BASEL O. LAKE

ORWELL - Basel O. Lake, age 86, of Orwell, OH, passed away Tuesday, April
26, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Warren, OH, following a brief illness.

He was born in Mt. Clare, WV on October 3, 1918, a son of the late Alva
Lake and Nellie A. Reed Lake.  Mr. Lake was married to Ona Tomes Lake
who preceded him in death in 1988.

Mr. Lake is survived by one son, Basel R. Lake and wife, Monica, of
Rome, OH; two sisters, Daisy Burg of Clarksburg and Rebecca Bennett of
Hepzibah; two grandchildren, Cheryl Lake Gibson of Concord, NC and Alan
Lake of Orwell, OH; two step grandchildren, Diana Vernon Lockerby of WI
and Kimi Vernon Alenczy of SC; five great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews and cousins; and one daughter-in-law, Janice Lake of Orwell, OH.

Mr. Lake was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Lipscomb and
Katherine Zickefoose; two brothers, Clemer Lake and John Lake; and one
step son, B. D. Vernon and wife, Marjorie, of Weirton, OH.

Mr. Lake was a retired millwright for Copperweld Steel Mill in Warren, OH.
He was also a coalminer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.II.

He was protestant by faith and also enjoyed woodworking and being with
his cats.

Friends and family may call at the DORSEY FUNERAL HOME, 701 South Pike
Street, Shinnston, WV 26431, today, Friday, April 29, 2005, from 7 to 9
p.m. where Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 11 a.m.,
with the Reverend Robert Merritt officiating.  Interment will follow at
the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
