Lake, a lifetime Middletown resident, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her home. She was, as always, 29 again. The daughter of the late George E. and Bernadette T. Farrell Collishaw, she was born on January 2, 1940 in Suffern, NY. Bernadette was a 1957 graduate of Old Haverstraw High School and graduated from SUNY Farmingdale in 1960 with her Dental Hygiene Degree. She worked as a hygienist for many years in the Middletown area, most recently for Dr. Goldsmith. Bernadette was a devoted mother and grandmother who was well known for her smile. Bernadette took great pleasure in talking to anyone who crossed her path, and she always enjoyed taking "the scenic route". Bernie was an enthusiastic fan at all of her grandchildren's games and events, and she was always in the front row, cheering them on the loudest. She had a great sense of humor that touched friends and family alike, she was an avid reader and movie-goer, often taking the grandchildren with her and turning it into a memorable adventure! Bernadette was a woman of varied interests and talents: she loved stargazing, cooking (not cleaning) college basketball and a good strong Irish coffee. She was a joyous and talented gardener who belonged to the Garden Club and whose home was on the Secret Gardens Tour in Orange County. She loved all things flowers and truly loved beautifying her yard with spectacular gardens for all passerbys to enjoy. Bernadette is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Lake and his wife, Debra of Port Jervis and her daughter, Bernadette Tymczyszyn and her husband, Mark of Middletown; one brother, George Collishaw and his wife, Mary Alice of New City; and ten beloved grandchildren: Gary, Chelsea, Zakary, Madelyn, Taylor, Noah, Joshua, Nathan, Caleb, and Pebblita and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
