Published in the Kentucky Enquirer on Jan. 1, 2017 Cincinnati, OH Bernelle "Jo" Biggs, passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Claremont Senior Living in Bremerton, Washington. She was born on November 20, 1924 in Bond, Kentucky to David and Kizzie Lakes. Her family moved to Ohio during the depression, where she met her lifetime sweetheart, Leonard. They were married August 31, 1940 with only a car to their name, and it was not even paid for! They made their home in Loveland, Ohio surrounded by a large extended family until 1978. As a shock to everyone in Ohio, they packed up everything and moved to Washington to be close to their granddaughters. Jo & Leonard were the perfect grandparents. They bought their grandaughter's ponies, geese, rabbits, showed them how to grow a garden. They never missed a dance recital or school play. Both are grateful for their influence & numerous wonderful memories. After Leonard passed away in 1995, Jo moved to Rosewild Condominiums and made many new friends who enriched her life until moving to Claremont Senior Living in 2008. Jo will be interned next to her beloved husband of 53 years, at Murdoch Presbyterian Church in Murdoch, Ohio. There she will rest among many of her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Kurt Schroeder, granddaughters; Brooke (Scott) DeVol and Jessica (Brady) Den Bleyker, and great grandchildren; Logan and Lucy DeVol and Oliver Den Bleyker. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations for the "Celebration Walkway" to Bethel Murdoch Presbyterian Church, 9602 Murdoch-Goshen Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140. Services will be held at a later date in Ohio. Please sign the online guest book for the family at: www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
