From The Times Herald (Norristown, PA) Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 Bertha M. (Brueninger) (Collins) (Chest) (Fanning) Lake, a retired nurse's aide, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Montgomery County Geriatric Center in Upper Providence. Mrs. Lake, of Upper Providence and formerly of Valley Forge Terrace, worked at the Clara Burke Nursing Home, Montgomery Hospital, the Valley Forge Heart Hospital and Deborah Hospital. She was the widow of the late Harry J. Colins Jr., Stanley Chest, Joseph Fanning and Frank Lake. Mrs. Lake attended schools in Lansdale. Born in Cooper River, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Nellie Mae Brueninger. After her mother died, she moved to West Point to live with the Delp family. Surviving are four sons, Harry "Jim" Collins of Plymouth, Raymond Collins of Eagleville, Gary Collins of King of Prussia and Joseph Fanning Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; a daugher Donna (Chest) Destra of Philadelphia; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Brueninger. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main St., Trappe. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, West Norriton.
