Published in the Jackson Citizen Patriot on 6/3/2003. Jackson MI EARL, BESSIE Of Munith, MI, aged 92, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003 at Stockbridge Country Manor. She was born March 27, 1911 in Leslie, Michigan, the daughter of John W. and Sarah J. (George) Lake. Bessie has lived in the area all her life and was a member of Munith United Methodist Church, also a life member of Order of the Eastern Stars of Layton Corners. She graduated in 1932 from Nursing School and worked for many years in area hospitals. She enjoyed bingo, knitting, needlepoint, reading, and going to garage sales. She married John Earl in Angola, IN on January 31, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving are her two sons, Larry Earl of Stockbridge, Gerald (Syreta) Earl of Stockbridge; a daughter-in-law, Diane Earl of Michigan Center; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John W. Earl on January 13, 1993; two sisters, Elsie Hasbrouck, and her twin sister, Jessie Eitel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge with the Reverend Charles Cerling and Craig Goodlock co-officiating. Burial will follow at Munith Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Stockbridge Area Ambulance or Munith United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. www.MLive.com/obits
