WATERLOO - Betty I. Mangels, 88, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 28,
at West Village Care Center, Independence.

She was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Gaza, daughter of Walter and Mary Dobricka
Lake. She married Freeman Mangels on Nov. 23, 1940, in North Bend, Neb.
He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mangels worked as a sales clerk for Younkers for 16 years, retiring
in 1985.

Survived by: a son, Keith (Judi) of Harpers Ferry; a daughter,
Mary (Roger) Cook of Bloomington, Minn.; five grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Leone
Pedersen of Arco, Minn.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Glenn and Kenneth Lake; and two
sisters, Lois Mord and Marjorie Turek.

Inurnment: will be held at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
