Sacramento Bee Sacramento, CA 28 Dec 2008 LAKE, Betty Jean Born April 26, 1926 in Allen, Kansas to Jenny and Clarence Lee, Betty passed away December 22, 2008 at her home in Citrus Heights at the age of 82. She was the last of 7 siblings and had been a longtime resident of the area. She owned and operated a grocery store and later became a demo lady at local grocery stores, a job she thoroughly enjoyed as she loved the people she worked with. Betty was always very energetic, staying busy and always active. She was a championship bowler, winning many trophies and loving the competition and her fellow bowlers. She could be seen line dancing 2 and 3 nights a week well into her 70's. An expert at needlework, she was always working on needlepoint, crocheting and bead work. Ceramics was another favorite past time for Betty and her work was award winning at the State Fair. She collected many things: pigs, Fentons, Santa Claus, nativity sets and pearl necklaces. She had great fun searching for these things in antique and thrift shops. Family will remember late night "pitch and razzle dazzle" card games and everyone will fondly remember Betty as always wearing her pearls. She is survived by her daughter Jodean Lake; son Warren (Elaine) Lake; grandchildren, Lisa, Kristy, Brian and Tommy and great-grandchildren, Austin and Hannah. Preceded in death by her husband Levi Lake, son Butch and siblings, Orville, Otis, Hazel, Florence, Dale and Billy. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 10 at 11am at Reichert's Funeral Chapel, 7320 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights, 729-2229. Private inurnment will be at Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights.
