    Beverly Johnson Muffie, 69, 3938 West 12th St., Millcreek Township, died Sunday,
April 8, 2001 at her home after a lengthy illness.
    She was born Jan 28, 1932, in Titusville, daughter of the late Walter and Ermine
Stroup Lake.
    She graduated from Titusville High School in 1950.  She was a member of the West
Lake Fire Department Auxiliary and volunteered with the Millcreek Township School
District PTA.  She enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time at the family hunting
camp.
    She was preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Charles Johnson, in
1983; and a brother, Donald Lake in 1998.
    Survivors include her husband of six years, Earl M. Muffie, Jr.; two sons, Michael
Johnson and his wife, Cindy, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas Johnson and his
wife, Alice, of Erie; a daughter, Sandra Sargent and her husband, Scott, of Newnan,
Ga.; a sister, Loretta Trask of Busti, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Morgan
and Brandi Johnson and Jessica and Jeffrey Sargent.
    There will be no calling hours.  A service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at
Asbury United Methodist Church, 4703 West Ridge Road, officiated by the Rev. Bradley
Neel.  Burial will be private.
    Memorials may be made to the West Lake Fire Department, 3762 West Lake Road, Erie,
PA 16505.

April 8, 2001 at her residence following an extended illness.  Wife of six years to
Earl M. Muffie, Jr.  Mother of  Michael Johnson and his wife, Cindy, Colorado Springs,
CO, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Alice, Erie; and Sandra Sargent and her husband,
Scott, Newnan, Ga. Sister of Loretta Trask, Busti, N.Y. She is further survived by five
grandchildren, Benjamin and Johnson, Jessica and Jeffrey Sargent, and Brandi Johnson.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Asbury United Methodist Church,
4703 West Ridge Road, Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.  Burial will be private.  Memorials may be
made to the West Lake Fire Department, 3762 West Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505.
