Born February 10, 1918 in South Sioux City, NE. Educated at Northwestern Bible School, Mpls, from which he graduated in 1942; Bethel Jr. College, St. Paul; and the University of MN, from which he graduated in 1946. He gave the parish ministry the good old college try for 23 years, as pastor, First Baptist Church, Montevideo. 1948-50; Community Baptist Church, Truman, 1951-53; and church of our Savior, Richfield, 1955-69, Director of Christian Education, American Baptist Convention of MN, 1954. In 1969, at the time of the Vietnam and civil rights crises, the God of Justice and Prince of Peace called him from ecclesiastical to social service, as Chief of Volunteer Services, MN Dept of Public Welfare, from which he retired in 1983. Survived by his wife June M. of Apple Valley; daughter Judith A Sheriff (Timothy) of Duluth; son Randall A Lake (Colleen Keough), of South Pasadena CA; granddaughter Janna M. Werner of St. Paul; and grandson Brandon Sheriff of Rockwell IA. Memorial gathering of family and friends, Henry W. Anderson Mortuary (612-432-2331), Apple Valley, Sunday, May 9, 6-8:30PM.
