Lake ROCKWELL - Calvin Milton Lake, 84, of Rockwell, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Avante of Concord after a number of years of declining health. The funeral will be at 12:30 Monday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Sandquist will officiate. Burial will follow at V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until service time Monday at the funeral home. Born Jan. 22, 1919, in Absecon, N.J., he was the son of the late Vincent Ira Lake and Mary Ida Brittain Lake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lake; two brothers and a sister. Mr. Lake, a retired Baptist minister, worked as a missionary with American Mission Opening Closed Churches. He was a member of Concord Bible Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Armstrong Lake; daughters, Jean Commerford and husband, Tom of Kannapolis and Nancy Gibson and husband Bill of Ventnor, N.J.; sisters, Doris Lord of Linwood, N.J. and Leona Ryan and Frances Streaker of St. Leonard, Md.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
